1945
In
January, representatives from different
circles in Shanghai gathered in the
monastery to hold a memorial ceremony
in public for commemorating the martyrs
in the massacre on "December
1". Members of the presidium
included Soong Ching Ling, Liu Yazi
and Ma Xulun. More than ten thousand
representatives from different circles
in Shanghai attended the ceremony.
In April, Soong Ching
Ling, Huang Yanpei and others initiated
a memorial meeting to offer condolence
for Wang Ruofei, Qin Bangxian, Ye
Ting, Deng Fa, who died in a plane
crash on their way to Chongqing as
the Chinese Communist Party delegates
to the negotiation with the Kuomintang.
In July, Master Tai Xu arrived in
Shanghai and stayed in the monastery.
1946
In January, Master
Zhi Fang retired, and Master Wei Yi,
the supervisor, succeeded him.
In March, Master
Fu Shan and Master Zhen Hua passed
away successively. Master Tai Xu also
passed away, being over-grieved, in
"Zhizhi Room" in the monastery.
1949
In March, Master
Wei Yi retired and Master Wei Fang
succeeded him.
In August, Master
Wei Fang was elected delegate to the
First People's Congress of all Circles
in Shanghai. In the early days of
Shanghai's liberation, Chen Yi, the
commander-in-chief of the East China
Field Army, came to inspect the monastery.
