1966
When
the ¡°Cultural Revolution¡± began, the
monastery was much affected. Majority
of the monks and followers had to
leave. Fortunately, the monastery
building, the jade Buddha statues,
Buddhist relics and instruments remained
intact.
1973
In March, Cambodian
king Norodom Sihanouk and his wife
visited China and came to the monastery.
1975
In April, honorary
president Onishi and secretary-general
Matsu Moto of Sino-Japanese Friendship
Buddhist Association visited the monastery.
1976
In May, Sino-Japanese
Friendship Buddhist Association delegation
led by Michibata, the chairman, visited
the monastery.
In summer, Japanese
Elder Master Yamada Etai of Tiantai
Sect led a delegation to visit the
monastery.
1977
In August, a second
delegation of Japanese religious followers
of 17 came to visit the monastery.
