Master
Zhen Chan joined in the delegation
of Chinese Buddhism to visit Japan.
1979
In May, the monastery
resumed Buddhist activities and was
designated as a city-level key opening
unit by the authorities concerned.
Master Zhen Chan was elected chairman
of Shanghai Buddhist Association.
In the same year, he succeeded as
the tenth abbot.
In July, a Japanese
visiting delegation of ¡°Print and
Publishing House of Chinese Cultural
Relics For Visiting China¡± headed
by Matsu Moto visited the monastery.
1980
An overall repair
of the monastery was carried out.
In September, an envoy delegation
of Japanese Nichiren Sect visited
the monastery.
In October, a visiting
China delegation of Japanese Caodong
Sect visited the monastery.
In December, Master
Zhen Chan went to Beijing to attend
the Fourth Congress of China Buddhist
Association, and was elected standing
council member.
