1981

In December, Shanghai Buddhist Association held the fourth congress, and Master Zhen Chan continued to hold the post of chairman.

In winter, Master Zhen Chan joined in the delegation of Chinese Buddhism to attend the second Asian Buddhists Peace Conference and visited Bangkok, Hong Kong and other places.

1982

In spring, the 100th anniversary ceremony for the foundation of the monastery was held. Master Zhen Chan gave lectures of Hrdaya-Sutra.

In summer, Xue Jie (Discipline Study) Hall was set up.

1983

In April, the monastery was designated the national key Buddhist monastery in the area of Han nationality in the country by the State Council.

Master Zhen Chan was elected standing committee member of Shanghai Municipal Political Consultative Conference.

In autumn, Shanghai Buddhist Association set up Shanghai Buddhist College with Master Zhen Chan as president.
