Invited
by the US State Council, Master Jue
Xing made a formal visit to the US
as a special visitor of the US international
visiting program. During the 30-day
visit, Master Jue Xing visited such
major cities as Washington, Amherst,
Philadelphia, New York, Oklahoma,
Los Angeles and San Francisco and
contacted and exchanged extensively
with American people from different
circles.
Mr. Zhao Puchu, president
of China Buddhist Association, passed
away in Beijing. A mourning hall was
set up in the monastery and a Buddhist
memorial meeting was held.
In June, the Hong
Yi Library was re-opened formally
to the public.
Jue Qun Quarterly
was formally published and issued.The
website of the Jade Buddha Monastery
was officially connected.
Master Jue Xing joined
the China Delegation of Buddhist masters
organized by China Buddhist Association
and went to visit Sri Lanka, Thailand
and Singapore.
In July, the leader of American Judaism
and president of Appeal of Conscience
Foundation, Mr. Shnell and his wife
visited the monastery.
In August, Master Jue Xing and others
went to Singapore and paid a friendly
visit to Singapore Buddhist Lodge.
In September, ¡°a
symposium for Buddhist correspondence
with to the socialist society¡± initiated
by China Buddhist Association was
held in the monastery (as the sponsor
), with more than 300 participants.
The first Buddhist
advanced class for young lay Buddhists
was started. |
