Center of Taiwan, headed a delegation
of over 90 persons to visit the monastery.
Master Guo Zhen from the Huguo Monastery
of the State of California in US headed
a delegation of Chinese Americans
to the monastery to hold a Buddhist
ceremony for saving sentient beings
at land and in water.
In April, the monastery
received the honor of ¡°2002 Model
Religious Activity Unit of Putuo District¡±.
The monastery and
the government of Jingan District
reached an agreement of intention
to improve the environments along
the Anyuan Road.
In June, the monastery wrote articles
to join the discussion of ¡°The World
Expo and the New Round Development
of Shanghai¡±.
In July, Master Xing
Yun, the founder of Foguangshan Monastery
of Kaohsiung, Taiwan with ten others
came to the monastery.
In October, Master
Wu Duan of the monastery began with
honor to be the action abbot of the
Xilin Temple.
A ten-person delegation
of Siamese Sect of Sri Lanka visited
the monastery.
In November, Master Jue Xing, abbot
of the monastery became with honor
chairman of Shanghai Buddhist Association.
Nalin Surie, ambassador of India
to China visited the monastery and
presented a set of Tripitaka in Pali
to the monastery as a gift.
