Master Jue Xing,
whose surname is Liu and name is Xu, was born
in 1970 in the Huludao City, Liaoning Province.
He is a college graduate of Han nationality. In
1985, he followed Master Xin Yi, the superintendent
of the Jade Buddha Monastery,and entered into
the monastery. In May of the same year, he experienced
ceremony of the three ordinations to be a master:
novice ordination, monk ordination and Bodhisattva
ordination. In September, he passed the entrance
examinations of Shanghai Buddhist College. In
September 1989, he studies in the graduate class
of Shanghai Buddhist College. After graduation,
he was assigned to work in the Jade Buddha Monastery.
He was the director of the monastic storehouse,
superintendent, deputy director and director of
the monastic affairs office successively.
In 1995, he became the deputy
secretary-general of Shanghai Buddhist Association.
In 1998, he was elected vice
chairman of Shanghai Buddhist Association and
was an executive. Since 1998, he has been elected
to be a representative to the eleventh Shanghai
People¡¯s Congress and the representative to the
Twelfth People¡¯s Congress of Putuo District. He
is also vice chairman of the Youth Association
of Putuo District, vice chairman of Shanghai Youth
Association, honorary chairman of Shanghai Children¡¯s
Home, vice chairman of Shanghai Charity Foundation,
advisor of Shanghai Aged People Foundation, and
vice chairman of Shanghai Anti-Cults Association.
In November, he was elected as the eleventh abbot
of the Jade Buddha Monastery.
In November 2002, at the seventh
national Buddhist conference, he was elected vice
chairman of China Buddhist Association.
