Devotion of His Heart and Soul to People and Buddhism
------ Interview with Master Jue Xing, Abbot of the Jade Buddha Monastery

The old masters in the monastery all liked this young clever and diligent monk. And in September 1985, Jue Xing was recommended into Shanghai Buddhist College in the monastery to study.

In face of the vast accumulation of Buddhist sutras and books, he studied as if he devoured knowledge avidly. Meanwhile, Jue Xing began gradually to have a better understanding of the Buddhist truth. The quintessence of Buddhism is not restricted to any classic or sutra and it is all-inclusive. No matter what kind of theory it is, Buddhist can absorb it. Therefore, the college also offered the courses of classical Chinese literature, aesthetics, philosophy and English. All these courses fascinated him and he was an outstanding student of the college.

Many people did not know that Master Jue Xing was the acolyte of Master Zhen Chan during his three-year study at the college until many years later. Master Jue Xing not only studied hard in the daytime, but also accompanied Master Zhen Chan to sit in meditation late at night. The Jade Buddha Monastery became his second home.

Master Jue Xing¡¯s goal is to make Buddhism become a language beyond country and race and a cultural symbol accepted widely in the world and history through unremitting efforts.

Devotion of His Heart and Soul to People and Buddhism

After his graduation, Master Jue Xing became the acolyte to Master Zhen Chan. Then the whole country has opened increasingly to the world, and the Party¡¯s religious policy has been very popular. Mater Zhen Chan brought the young Jue Xing to pay visits to the United States, Japan and over twenty countries and regions.
