Master
Jue Xing replied, ¡°Besides the traditional
way of preaching, we also publish
some sutras by the Buddhist Publishing
House. Some prestigious masters usually
write their own understanding and
have them sold in temples. We normally
make Buddhist music and some of the
grand activities held in the temples
into VCD, videocassettes and tapes.
The Buddhist circle, once cooperating
with CCTV, produced a TV series to
introduce some famous masters such
as Master Hong Yi and Master Yuan
Ying. I always hold the idea that
the flourishing of Buddhism can only
turn to be practical when it can match
the pace of the development of the
society all the time.¡±

Entering the abbot¡¯s
room, we can see a picture titled
The Seven Sages in Groves of Bamboo
with a couplet each beginning with
the Chinese character ¡®Jue¡¯ and ¡®Xing¡¯
(Jue Xing together). You may get the
impression that Master Jue Xing is
always talking with the seven sages,
which may be considered as a conversation
between past and today.
On the desk there
is a notebook computer quite striking.
The reporter started the interview
with questions about the computer.
¡°Can you reveal
your hobbies to us, Master Jue Xing?¡±
¡°I do surfing everyday.
And do you think computer is one of
my hobbies? I also have a great interest
in photography, calligraphy and collections.
