Interview
with Master Jue Xing |
| Q: |
At the beginning of the new millenium, how does Buddhism meet with the new century? Can you give any your personal comments? |
| A: |
This
is a big topic, also a topic
many people concern. Here I
will tell some shallow views:
1. To inherit and develop the
positive contents in Buddhist
doctrines and disciplines to
serve the socialist spiritual
civilization. Buddhism demands
the Buddhist disciples to purify
themselves through abide by
the five precepts and ten good
deeds, and to benefit people
through cultivation of four
all-embracing virtues and the
Six Paramitas. In the Buddhist
doctrines, there are many positive
contents, such as "the outlook
on life of altruism without
ego and salvation to all the
people", "cultivation approach
of equal importance of discipline,
meditation and wisdom, and abstraction
and cultivation of dhyana and
contemplation", and so on. Those
can play an irreplaceable and
positive function in purification
of society and mind of people
and improvement of Buddhist
culture.
2. To develop Buddhist ethics
with great efforts to stabilize
society and purify mind of people.
We very often educate the Buddhist
disciples the principle of "making
friends with people before one
obtains enlightenment", actively
guide them regard the moral
doctrine of "commitment of no
evil and practice of all good
virtues" as the base of Buddhist
belief, let them truly believe
the law of cause and effect
that "in the end there will
be retribution and gratitude
for evil and goodness". Thus
they can make up their mind
to be a good citizen, a good
Buddhist, self-consciously work
for the realization of human
pure land and make more contribution
for "the accomplishment of bright
world " and bring more blessing
and joy to the sentient.(continue...)
