Specifically in the Chinese Buddhist temples, it is common to construct a Bell and Drum Pavilion in front of the Grand Hall. Usually the b ell is placed on the left, and drum on the right.During each dawn and dusk, the monks gather in the Grand Hall, and ring the bell and drum, to alert and remind them to diligently improve their practice.

Since the Jade Buddha Zen Temple’s eliminate public safety hazards protection restoration project in 2014, the Grand Hall has been moved north 30.66 meters, and gave room to build the Bell and Drum pavilion, and complete the architectural system, and fulfilled the wish of generations of monks. After one visits the Heavenly King Hall, the Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva Hall is right in front in the middle, and to the east is the bell tower, the drum tower is to the west.
